May, 2016 – The 15th Annual Jim Schoemel 5K Run for ALS was held on May 7th this year in Webster Groves, Missouri. The run was the most successful thus far, raising over $20,300 in donations and hosting over 450 participants. All of the proceeds from the event went to the Kramer Family and the ALS Association. Cosgrove Law Group, LLC was proud to sponsor such a great local event!
The Jim Schoemehl 5k Run was created in 2001 by a Webster Groves High School student when a marketing teacher from Webster Groves High Schools’ husband, Jim Schoemehl, was diagnosed with ALS in September 2001. Unfortunately, Jim lost his battle with ALS, but his legacy lives on in the annual run. Each year the race has gradually grown to raise more money and awareness for ALS. The run has been integrated into a community event with many families, friends, and even pets participating. The run is organized each year by the Webster Groves High School Senior class. Each year is different from the last because a new group of students organize the run making every year a unique and important experience. The run has a 5K and 10K route and a Selma Sprint for kids.
